As a parent myself, I understand the desire to make my daughter happy. Although she is still just an infant, I love to see her smile. And on those days she has a cough or isn’t feeling well, I will bend over backward to give her something to light up her face. And as little girls get older, they want other kinds of things. And toy stores and dollar stores make it easy for parents to give little girls play makeup kits and other cosmetic toys.
But parents Tony and Kylie Cravens now regret purchasing a makeup kit from the dollar store.
And while most parents would never second guess their desire to purchase a toy from the dollar store, the Cravens now want you to beware if you’re in the same boat.
Because their daughter was getting interested in makeup and cosmetics, the Cravens purchased their little girl a makeup kit from the dollar store. But it quickly turned into a nightmare.
Kylie turned to the internet to steer other parents away from the child’s makeup kits available at neighborhood dollar stores.
“For Tony and I this was definitely an eye-opener, and we will be more cautious about acknowledging ingredients and educating ourselves on what is good and bad before purchasing from here on out.”
Kylie wrote a lengthy post on Facebook “to remind parents to be very careful” when purchasing toys for their children. And when you see the images of her daughter after she used the dollar-store makeup kit, you’ll understand her reason for concern.
Her daughter experienced a severe reaction to the low-quality ingredients in the makeup kit. While no one expected the makeup kit to include quality ingredients, given its extremely cheap price, Kylie was stunned when her daughter’s face started changing.
“There are six different chemicals in this makeup that are commonly known to cause an allergic reaction. Lydia, unfortunately, was one of those people allergic, and for the past week she has been going through a severe allergic reaction SO SEVERE she had to be admitted to Carle pediatrics in Champaign.”
Kylie and Tony simply wanted to buy their daughter a little gift. If they knew that the cheap chemical ingredients would cause their daughter severe suffering, they would have steered clear of the child’s makeup kit.
Lydia’s eyes became blistered and swollen shut. A rash broke out across her entire body – and not just her face where she slathered on the makeup. And she required cold backs to alleviate the burning sensation.
Her lips got so cracked she could no longer eat. It took her days to take down food.
The girl’s condition got so bad. Tony was compelled to pour out his emotions on social media.
“I usually don’t do this. It’s usually my wife that does the posting, but as I sit here and watch my baby girl sleep, I can’t do anything but weep uncontrollably.”
Who thought a little girl’s makeup kit had the power to bring a grown man to tears?
Tony wrote, “I’m not man enough for this… I want to see her smile again.”
