You Remember Her As Marcia Brady. She Just Revealed She’s Been Living A Secret Life For Years

Maureen McCormick has been on a downward spiral since her career peaked on the Brady Bunch decades ago. Even during the show, she started experimenting with drugs, but her addiction to drugs left her in a perilous state. Her parents almost turned her into the police after she started to stay awake for days at a time high on all sorts of drug cocktails because, as she says, “nothing else matters.”

Since her lowest lows of drug abuse, McCormick only decided to face her demons and stop abusing drugs when her beloved husband threatened to leave her. Not only had her parents turned away from her because of her drug abuse, but Michael Cummings, the love of her life and husband of 33 years now, were all about to walk out of her life unless she straightened up.

McCormick recently opened up about her drug addiction to US Weekly. In the heartbreaking interview, she described how her life nearly ended because of drugs.

“My mom and dad, they almost turned me into the cops,” she told US Weekly. “They were at their last… because they had been trying for years and knew something was going on and I was pretty sneaky, and I could hide very, very well. But then I started messing up on jobs and so many things, so I’m sure everyone in the industry at the time knew that I was flaking out.”

Although she cared about what her parents thought, it was Cummings’s threat that set her straight. He said that if she started doing drugs again, he would be gone.

“It woke me up,’ she said. ‘It was like the coldest shower you could ever take, there’s just no way I’m gonna lose somebody that I love.”

McCormick’s career revolved around The Brady Bunch. She played Marcia Brady from 1969 to 1974 and then joined the reboot The Brady Brides in 1981 alongside Eve Plumb, who played her TV sister, Jan, who is now 60-years-old.

McCormick may have looked like a good girl on television, but behind the scenes and on set, her life revolved around hard drugs and unprotected sex. She would frequently trade sex for any drugs she could get.

But she has since turned her life around and lives with her husband and 29-year-old daughter, Natalie, in their beautiful home outside of Los Angeles.

In 2007, McCormick appeared on Celebrity Fit Club, on VH1, where she dropped 38 pounds from her tiny 5-foot, 3-inch frame. She packed all the weight back on again two years later only to lose it again in 2011.

When she first met her husband, she “just had a feeling about” him. But when he learned about her love for drugs, he lost a lot of interest in her. He knew that if she kept up her drug-fueled life, she would not be alive for much longer.

He inspired her to be better.

She said,  “We’ve been married now 33 years. I just had a feeling that I could trust him with my whole heart and that he was so honest and such a beautiful, beautiful human being.”
